Frequently Asked Questions

There's a lot of logistical questions that come up when accessing mental health support or life coaching. This page is here to answer the most common questions new clients might have regarding our services and mental health support. Please feel free to email us at hayley@creatingspacetherapygroup.com if you cannot find the answer to your questions here.

What is the difference between therapy and life coaching?

Therapy and life coaching serve different purposes, though both aim to support personal growth. Therapy focuses on healing emotional and psychological issues, often addressing past traumas, mental health conditions, or deeply ingrained behavioral patterns. Life coaching, on the other hand, is future-focused and goal-oriented, helping individuals clarify their vision, overcome obstacles, and achieve specific personal or professional goals.

Where do I need to live to be able to work with you?

Currently, our clinicians are able to see clients in California. Licensing laws are state specific and only allow therapy to be performed in the state where the clinician is licensed. Our Life Coaches are able to see clients that are living or located in any state.

Who do you see?

As part of our efforts in diversity and inclusivity each of our clinicians have different clients they work with and specialties they have. Please read our clinician bios to learn more. Due to the limitations of telehealth therapy we currently cannot work with individuals with suicidal thinking, homicidal thinking, schizophrenia, or personality disorders.

Do you accept insurance?

We are out-of-network providers, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt of services—which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Depending on your plan, you may receive partial reimbursement for your sessions once you meet your out-of-network deductible. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your out-of-network benefits.

How effective is tele-health?

Teletherapy has proven to be highly effective, offering the same quality of care as in-person therapy, with added convenience. Studies have shown that virtual sessions can be just as successful in treating a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and trauma-related issues.
